The community of Stevenson is mourning the passing of Darren Barbee, age 60, who died on May 19, 2026. His loss is being deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him, as they gather to honor a life marked by connection, love, and enduring relationships.
Darren Barbee is survived by his beloved daughter, Crimson Barbee; his parents, Vernon and Bobbye Barbee; and his brother, Daryle Barbee. He also leaves behind a large circle of extended family, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends who considered him an important and cherished part of their lives. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved him most.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Syd Johnson, Pete Potterfield, and B.C. and Mary Hugh Barbee, as well as several aunts and uncles, all of whom now welcome him in eternal rest. The strength of his family roots and the legacy of those who came before him remain an important part of the memory he leaves behind.
Those who knew Darren remember him for the relationships he built and the presence he carried within his family and community. He is being honored not only for his life but also for the bonds he shared with others and the lasting impact of those connections.
Visitation will be held at Valley Funeral Home on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2026, at the funeral home chapel, with burial to follow at Cargile Cemetery, officiated by Logan Kinsey.
