John A. Grimshaw passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, in his 73rd year, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. His passing marks the loss of a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, respected firefighter, and cherished member of the Hamilton community.
John dedicated more than two decades of his life to public service, serving with courage and honor in the Hamilton Fire Department for 26 years before retiring as Captain. Throughout his career, he answered countless calls with bravery, compassion, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. His leadership and dedication earned the respect of colleagues and the gratitude of the community he proudly served.
While John’s professional accomplishments were remarkable, his greatest pride was always his family. He shared 52 loving years of marriage with his beloved wife, Debbie (Gregoire), building a life grounded in loyalty, strength, and unconditional love. Together, they raised two devoted daughters, Kim and Nikki (Kam Nabi), who brought immense pride and joy to his life.
John was also a proud and loving grandfather to Alex Hatcher-Grimshaw, Quentin, Carter, and Oscar Nabi. His grandsons were truly the light of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet moments together, John’s love for his family was evident in everything he did.
Known for his hardworking spirit, kind heart, and quiet strength, John lived a life defined by service, integrity, and compassion. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him.
