Albert Itzkowitz Shooting-Murder Flushing-Queens, NY Death: Victim in Fatal Shooting Identified; Police Continue Investigation

Police are continuing their investigation after the tragic death of Albert Itzkowitz, a beloved member of the Flushing community, who was found shot and killed at Kissena Lake in Queens on Monday. Detectives are searching for clues, as the case remains unresolved. A single shell casing was discovered near the victim’s body, but no firearm has been recovered, adding to the mystery surrounding his death.

Albert Itzkowitz, 75, a dedicated husband and father of five, was discovered in broad daylight just before 5 p.m., lying near Kissena Lake with gunshot wounds to his neck and back. His friends and family are devastated, holding onto hope that justice will be served. One friend described Albert as a man who kept to himself and was not involved in any conflicts, emphasizing his kind and gentle nature.

A lifelong resident of Queens, Albert was a familiar face at his local temple, where he had worshipped for nearly 40 years. His rabbi’s wife, Helen Oelbuam, spoke fondly of him, describing him as a quiet, caring individual always willing to help others. She shared that Albert’s wife had passed away just three weeks prior from natural causes, compounding the community’s grief.

Members of the community and loved ones are in shock, questioning why such a loving, devout person was targeted. “Why would anyone take the life of someone so caring and beloved by his family, his community, and his faith?” asked one of his friends.

In response to the incident, police have increased patrols in the park, but so far, there are no suspects, no motive, and no arrests. The investigation continues as authorities seek answers to this tragic and perplexing case.
